To ring in the holiday season, I was delighted to work on this special little dress, custom-made for Adorable Heirlooms. Check them out for beautiful fabric and notions as seen in this dress, made with tiny print Pima Broadcloth, French lace, and DMC Perle 8. I couldn't resist using last year's smocking plate as seen in Sew Beautiful Magazine #139. The smocking design, by Laurie Nash Anderson, of Southern Stitches, looked easy enough, but I didn't appreciate how beautiful it really was until I started weaving the two colors of thread together into the prettiest mosaic of geometric rows. The buttons added a whimsical final touch and really made the design pop!
